Re the previous post:
At the time of the USS LA's involvement at San Clemente Island (early 1959), I had a friend in Garden Grove, CA who worked at Autonetics in Anaheim, CA; this friend told me he was working on the Polaris missile's inertial navigation system. I had no idea that 15 years later I would be working for the company that built the submarine weapon system's test instrumentation system. When I started there, it was on the Poseiden weapon system which replaced the Polaris system and then the subsequent Trident instrumentation system. As it turned out, I spent a significant part of my electronics career working on that unique family of weapon systems. In 1978 had the honor of witnessing an early (successful) Trident missile test launch from an SSBN off Cape Canaveral (Cape Kennedy), FL.
