The following info was received today, 11 December 2011, from Jim Whitt:
USS Los Angeles CA-135 Association
2012 San Pedro Roundup
Preliminary Information
Marifrances Trivelli, Los Angeles Maritime Museum Director, and her Staff, have assisted us in organizing the activities for Saturday October 13, 2012 at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, San Pedro, California.
A Harbor Tugboat Ride will be provided which may include the opportunity to see the USS Iowa BB-61 from the water.
We also hope to have on display, subject to availability, some post decommissioning items from the USS Los Angeles SSN-688.
As most of you probably know, San Pedro is in the process of preparing a permanent berth pending the arrival of Battleship USS Iowa BB-61. This will include her being converted to a floating museum and being open to the public.
The Sail (upper-center section) of the USS Los Angeles SSN-688 has arrived in San Pedro and is currently in storage pending relocation to her final home in San Pedro.
The Roundup plans may be modified once the USS Iowa and USS Los Angeles (SSN-688) Sail re-locations take place.
We are leaving the choice of hotels up to each shipmate. Plans call for the Museum staff to provide a list of hotels and rates.
More updated information will be provided in the May-June Newsletter.
Note: The Roundup is for USS Los Angeles Association members and their families. Membership information is available on the USS Los Angeles CA-135 website - see link at right.
